Privacy and Cookie Policy

We collect certain information or data about you when you use GuestHug. This includes: questions, queries or feedback you leave, including your email address if you send an email to GuestHug information on how you use the site, using cookies and page tagging techniques to help us improve the website details to allow you to access services, eg an email address (you’ll always be told when this information is being collected, and it will only be used for the purpose you provide it for).

This helps us to:

  • improve the site by monitoring how you use it
  • respond to any feedback you send us, if you’ve asked us to
  • provide you with information about local services if you want it

We can’t personally identify you using your data.

You may choose to delete your account at any time without reason by visiting the ‘Account’ menu within the mobile app and selecting 'Delete my account'. GuestHug may also terminate your account without prior notice to you, including where you are in breach of these Terms or where your account is deactivated due to a period of prolonged inactivity.

Where your data is stored

We store your data on our secure servers in the UK. It may also be stored outside of the UK, where it could be viewed by our staff or suppliers. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this.

Keeping your data secure

Transmitting information over the internet is generally not completely secure, and we can’t guarantee the security of your data. Any data you transmit is at your own risk.

We have procedures and security features in place to try and keep your data secure once we receive it. We won’t share your information with any other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes, and we don’t pass on your details to other websites.

Disclosing your information

We may pass on your personal information if we have a legal obligation to do so, or if we have to enforce or apply other agreements. This includes exchanging information for legal reasons.

Links to other websites

GuestHug contains links to and from other websites. This privacy policy only applies to this website, and doesn’t cover other services and transactions that we link to. Following a link to another website - If you go to another website from this one, read the privacy policy on that website to find out what it does with your information. Following a link to GuestHug from another website - If you come to GuestHug from another website, we may receive personal information about you from the other website. You should read the privacy policy of the website you came from to find out more about this.

Location

GuestHug uses Guest geolocation data to provide Hosts and Guests with remote check-in and check-out features. Guests can automatically check-in and out of the Host's property when they are within the geofence radius.

The feature allows:

  • Hosts to receive automatic push notifications signalling that the guest has safely arrived at the property (within the defined geofence radius)
  • GuestHug to improve our services, including guest navigation and check-in / out actions. Location based data is only collected during a limited period of time during specified check-in and check-out windows. The data collected:
  • Is only used in connection with Guest check-in and check-outs and is not used for any other purpose
  • Is not stored by GuestHug
  • Is not provided to any third parties Location based services need to be positively enabled by Guests and Hosts during sign-up to the App and can be:
  • Disabled by Hosts (by deselecting the Auto check-in feature)
  • Opted out of by both Hosts and Guests (by not "Enabling Location" when signing into the GuestHug App)

Subscriptions

Your subscription will be charged to your iTunes account. At the end of the term, unless auto-renewables subscriptions are disabled, your subscription will automatically renew in your iTunes account. You will be charged for the regular price of your subscription within 24 hours prior to the end of the current term. You can turn off automatic renewal in your iTunes account settings at any time, but you must do so at least 24 hours before the end of the current term. Refunds will not be provided for the unused portion of any term. To turn-off auto-renewables you should follow the procedure below:

  • Go to your iOS settings
  • Find and select iTunes & App Store
  • Tap Apple ID (your Apple ID email)
  • Tap View Apple ID
  • Log in if it asks you to
  • Scroll down to Subscriptions and tap Manage.
  • Select GuestHug and set the auto-renewal slider to Off or select Unsubscribe. Note: If the option to turn off auto-renewal is not displayed here, you may have already chosen to turn it off, cancelling future charges. If that’s the case, you should be able to see the end date of your subscription on this screen. You can find more details in this Apple Support Article.
